The Buffalo Hills Bullriding: Stop 17 of 33 on the 2012 EPB Season

Arrowwood, AB: The Elite Professional Bullriders Inc. will make their way to the thriving  metropolis of Arrowwood on Wednesday the 13th of June for the 4th Annual Buffalo Hills Bullriding. It’s the 17th stop of 33 listed thus far on the EPB’s 2012 Season.

Action gets underway at 7:00pm MST. 30 Bull Riders will take on 30 of Canada’s top bulls in the long round of competition. The top 6 from there will face 6 rank ones in the short round. The top bull rider after that will be presented his share of the $4,000 in added money along with a custom made Dominic Valine trophy buckle.

Australian Bull Rider Josh Birks currently leads the EPB standings. He’s won nearly every event thus far this spring. His closest competition so far has been the only Canadian to make every PBR Canada Finals so far, Zane Lambert.

A person might not even call doubling the money as close. You can be the judge. Birks has won over $13,000. Lambert, in second, has won $6,500. With the second half of the season in full swing, it will be an interesting rode to the year end finals.

Entries for the event close at 10:00pm tonight (June 4th, 2012.)

Another buckle for the night’s top bull will be given as well.

Speaking of the bulls, they will be coming from event promoter Nate Gardner of Rafter G Cattle Co as well as Sawyer Bucking Bulls, Flying High Rodeo Co, Two Bit, Wild Hoggs and Eno/Kubinchak.

“It’s our busiest time of the year as contractors.” Nate added.

With all of the events going on in June here in Canada, you will expect to see many of the top bull riders at this event. You’ll also get to listen to the event as told to you by the 2011 CPRA Announcer of the Year, Brett Gardnier. Sound will be done by Bailey Sawyer.

This year’s judges will include Marty Ward & Matt Strochein on each side with Greg Whitlow as the back judge. Bull fighters will be Ty Prescott and Daryl Thiessen, both selected to work the 2011 EPB Finals in Butte, MT.

For those of you looking to come out to see the show, tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for Kids & Seniors. There will be a fully stocked beer gardens as well concession.

“We’ve seen about every kind of weather each of the years so far except for sunshine.” Said Nate, hopeful for good weather this year. With that many where the weather wasn’t so nice, it’s about time for it to come around and be nice.

This year’s Major Sponsors include: The Arrowwood Co-op, Dow Agro Science, 2-W Livestock, Hi Way Service, Arrowwood Ag Society as well as Parrish & Heimbecker.

See you all in Arrowwood on June 13th. We will have all the video highlights, results and interviews right here on Everything Cowboy before you will see them anywhere else.
