Australia’s Kyle Loudon Wins Southern Classic EPB

Bassano, AB: After having a bit of a rough go for the past couple weeks and coming down from his past eight consecutive bulls, Kyle Loudon broke that streak with a big win at the Southern Classic last night.

During the afternoon, there was a futurity once again that turned out as best as it has any previous year. Check back later for more on that.

Last night’s long go of competition also featured the bulls up against each other. It’s called a Derby since all of them were three year olds.

Things started off well with the first bull of the night coming from Ty & Barry Prescott and scoring a solid 41/50 going up against Ty Parkinson.

Not long after, Te Hiko Neil took on the night’s eventual winning derby bull. 991 Moe Banger of Nate Gardner’s came in with a bull score of 43.75.

Git Your Good Time on of Lorne High’s took second in the bull derby competition throwing off Brody Heigel quite handily.

Josh Birks won last weekend’s EPB event in Coutts, AB. He didn’t fare as well last night on the Canadian Bucker’s Dirty Dealin’ but started a great ride.

New Zealand’s Adam Jamison has been doing some winning since being over here in Canada. He kept it up by riding this Canadian Bucker called Smoke Show.

As one of the last men out in the Long Go, Kyle Loudon gave the beer gardens something to cheer about on the Wallgren bull 923 Aurora.

Long Go Results

  1. Kyle Loudon – 83.25 on KW923 Aurora
  2. Adam Jamison – 77
  3. Nick Olsen – 71.75
  4. Ronnie Delarue – 69
  5. Jordan Glaicar – 59.75
Derby Results

  2. Flying High’s 944 Git Your Good Time On – 43

  4. Prescott’s 906 -41

Then came the Short Round full of some rank one from Canadian Buckers, Two Bit Bucking Bulls and Prescott Bucking bulls.

Ronnie Delarue took on Two Bit’s Bucking Fantastic who actually came in second in last year’s Derby.

The Canadian Bucker’s brought down True Blood from Mayerthorpe, AB. This is one to watch hat threw off Warwick Kime of Australia.

Coming into the short go with a sight chance to win, Nick Olsen matched up with the new Two Bit Bull Danger Ranger.

Unlike Nick, Jordan Glaicar really didn’t have much of a chance to win the event but could have cashed in a real good check with a ride on Prescott’s Tick Tack.

Prescott’s On the Rocks had not been ridden before last night. Kyle Loudon

Two Bit’s About to Blow threw off Adam Jamison just before the whistle last week in Arrowwood. He had another shot at him last night.

Overall Results and Payout

  1. Kyle Loudon 164/2 – $4,545
  2. Adam Jamison 77/1 – $1,160
  3. Nick Olsen 71.75/1 – $866
  4. Ronnie Dealrue 69/1 -$593
  5. Jordan Glaicar 59.75/1 $456

After the dust settled, Kyle had this to say about his Southern Classic win.

Nate Gardner’s 991 Moe Banger impressed a lot of people last night. We might not get to see him much now anymore either. He’s got an interesting name too and Nate told me about where it came from too.

That’s a wrap from this year’s Southern Classic. It was my first time there and it surely won’t be the last.

Congratulations once again to tonight’s bull riding Champion Kyle Loudon. Here he is with event producer Ken McGinnis recieving his trophy buckle.

Thanks for having us all and putting on such a great event. We look forward to it once again next year!
