Top Twelve of 2012: Number 12 – LaValley wins Ponoka and Green Brothers Dominate Daines Ranch in the Mud

Calgary, AB: After starting off the countdown yesterday it turns out there were more than twelve moments that needed to be included. There will be a few that share some spots along the way. Today in the Number Twelve spot we’ve got Dusty LaValley’s win in Ponoka this July along with the Green Brothers big night in Innisail a couple weeks before.

Luckily, all three rides of Dusty’s were caught on film from Ponoka. Even though he missed making this year’s NFR by one spot, it was by choice near the end of the season. With as good as he rides, he will be back. In the long go, Dusty took on the Bar C5 Horse Blue Jeans.

In the Finals LaValley took on Northcott’s Six Guns to win the average title.

The Showdown paid $5,000 to the winner of each event. Dusty blew them all out of the water with his 90 point effort on Bar C5’s recent NFR qualifying horse Make up Face. As you can see below, LaValley is congratulated first by Norm Little of Alberta Premium.

Also coming in at the twelfth spot are Garrett and Layton Green for their performance at this year’s Daines Ranch Pro Rodeo in the mud on the Thursday performance.

Layton started it off with a great 75 point effort on one of the Calgary Stampede’s “Born to Buck” up and comers.

Garrett then rode the Northcott’s big black muley Risky Remedy to lead the bull riding at the time.

Both scores held up for them each to win their respective event and go on to the CFR as one set of eight sets of brothers in total. I caught up with them there about the experience.

Stay tuned for more to come and number eleven of the Everything Cowboy top twelve, tomorrow!
