The 2013 Edition of the Leduc Black Gold Rodeo is now history, but what a fantastic event it was! It had been a few years since I was last there and Iam so impressed with how they have grown their rodeo! The Crowds were fantastic loud and boisterous and fun to work the Black Gold Rodeo Committee went above and beyond to assure that the Cowboys and cowgirls were well look after as well just a thought rodeo to work and the great place to be.
Here are the final results of the Blackgold rodeo in the bed back riding four-time Canadian Champion Dusty Lavalley put together an outstanding 88 pt ride on Northcott’s great Bucking horse My Mistake!
In the Tie Down Roping Colorado’s Josh Peek set the pace Thursday morning in the slack with a very fast 7.7 run this time held up throughout the week and he emerged as the champion in his event.
Merritt, British Columbia cowgirl Katie Garthwaite and her greatvpalomino mare Frenchie turned and burned around the barrels time of 13.367. They would be the winners in the cowgirl competition.
In the Steer Wrestling we saw an old familiar face prove why he has long been considered one of the elite steer wrestlers in the world has five-time Canadian Champion and Two Time World Champion Steer Wrestler Lee Graves got the job done with a time of 3.8.
Rylan Geiger who wowed the crowd with an impressive 84 point ride on Friday night would also stay in the lead to win Saddle Bronc Riding Championship. In the team roping a couple of hot shot cowboys one from Canada and one from the United States would combine their talents to post a 3.9 time as Levis Simpson of Ponoka, Alberta and John Robertson of Polson, Montana would be the champions in their event.
