Dawson Hay Take Home San Angelo Rodeo Championship
EDMONTON, AB (April 14th, 2023) – After a tough night of competition, only one Canadian came out on top and was crowned the champion of the San Angelo rodeo. Dawson Hay has been on a strong streak of winning this year and has added another win to his pro rodeo season.
With one last shot of taking home the title, Hay matched up with Secret Agent from Championship Pro Rodeo for a whopping 88-point ride. In total, the Wildwood cowboy walked away with just under seventeen thousand dollars winning the title and the aggregate.
Hay currently sits 17th in the world standings with 31K won so far for the 2023 season. Having this win will only strengthen his momentum as he fights for a spot once again at the Wrangler NFR.
Also making this the start to a comeback season is Lindsay Sears. After not making any money in the first two rounds, Sears came back strong in the finals and walked away with a win after her fast 13.88 second run. The cowgirl earned herself close to 13K overall.
Other winners, courtesy of the PRCA, at the $699,710 rodeo were bareback rider Leighton Berry (175.5 points on two head); steer wrestler Jay Williamson (12.1 seconds on three head); saddle bronc rider Dawson Hay (178.5 points on two head); team ropers J.C. Yeahquo/L.J. Yeahquo (12.3 seconds on three head); barrel racer Kassie Mowry (43.86 seconds on three runs); and bull rider Deklan Garland (174.5 points on two head).
