Oyen, AB: It looked as if the sky was about to pour on us all last night about 20 minutes before the event but as it began the clouds parted and the sun shone down. A person really couldn’t ask for better weather.
Ashton Arychuk wished his ride went better on Smoke Signal. He did compete the rest of the weekend:
Early in the Long Go Tanner Girletz rode the Braithwaite bull Wilder Walker to the tune of 87 points. That held up to win it. Devon Mezei, Chad Besplug, Jesse Torkelson and Beau Brooks filled the 2nd-5th spots in the Long Round.
Jesse Torkelson riding the Weatherly Bull Murphy’s Law:
Beau Brooks riding the Skori Bull Smoke Ring:
Tanner Byrne came out as the winner in Oyen, AB last night. After a re-ride in the Long Round he got on Half Shot of Big Country Rodeo and came out on top with an 84 which tied him for 6th. The Judges reviewed the scores and Tanner got the last spot.
It worked out well.
He drew Mind Freak of Ellie Skori in the Short Round and spurred his way to an 88.5 point score to win the Short Go and the overall event title.
Tannr Girletz didn’t make the whistle on the Girletz Bull First Nation Sensation but still finished 3rd in the average:
Beau Brooks had the only other ride in the Short Go and scored an 85 on Jackson James of Todd Braithwaites. He finished just one point behind Byrne when the dust settled.
