Calgary, AB: Borealis Rodeo Team Member Cole Goodine is the 2011 Calgary Stampede Novice Bareback Champion! With a 79 point ride to win the long go he made a great 76 point ride in the short round to finish second. In the average he edged out Clint Laye by just a half a point.

I was able to catch up with Cole this morning here in Teepee Creek, AB to ask him about the ride.

“The horse I had actually hadn’t been bucked in the bareback before. I had that happen before and it didn’t work out but this time it sure did.”

Thrilled about his win he made his way right up here today to do what he loves.

Fellow Borealis team members Ty Pozzobon, Jesse Torkelson and Sierra Stoney did not make it back to Showdown Sunday from Wildcard Saturday.

Todd Maughn and Ryan Gray compete today with a chance to win $100,000 on rodeos richest afternoon. Check it out today on CBC and here tonight for the results and video.
