August Long Weekend Sends Contestants to CFR

The August Long weekend in Canadian Pro Rodeo offers a whole ton of prize money to be won. This year it sent one bull rider to his first CFR. Now all his money wasn’t won this weekend but his win in Camrose this weekend at the Big Valley Jamboree’s Bulls for Breakfast CPRA Bull Riding put him over the $20,000 mark on season earnings which will surely send him to Edmonton in November.

Tanner also rode the Vold bull Kin Deadly in Strathmore yesterday to an 85 point score to finish 3rd there and pick up another check worth at least $4000. That should put him real close to the top of the standings!

2010 Canadian Champion Jesse Torkelson also punched his ticket to Edmonton this weekend with his win at the Strathmore Heritage Days Rodeo with his 87 point ride on the Calgary Stampede bull Bananas. Jesse said he was happy to have Edmonton made at this point in the season.

Aaron Gibb is back in fine form again after a while off due to injury. He started off the weekend by riding a bull not many people ride. He was only 84 points on the former Outlaw Buckers bull Bombs Away which was bought and now owned by the Calgary Stampede. From what was heard the bull wasn’t as tough to ride as he usually is. But way to go Aaron for getting it done!

He was also the winner in Bruce, AB at the Bruce Stampede, check out YouTube or here tomorrow for that ride on video!

Rounding out the weekend winners, Denton Edge won the Medicine Hat Stampede with an 86.5 point ride.

Do you know any of the other events winners? If so let us know below in a comment!

On that note, Sherri Cervi won the Barrel Racing in Strathmore and Clayton Bunney won the Bareback Riding in Bruce!
