Airdrie Bikes Bulls CPRA Bull Riding

Airdrie, AB: The First ever Airdrie Bikes and Bulls CPRA Bull Riding took place last night at the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds. With a 5pm start the weather couldn’t have been better. A decent crowd showed up for the first time event. Here are how things went in the long go round.

Rookie Garrett Green rides his bull to finish 6th in the Long Go with an 81 point effort

Chad Besplug rides the Franklin Rodeo Company Bull 777 Like Magic for an 88 about half way through the long ride that would hold up almost all the way to the short round

Aaron Gibb made it just in time from Lethbridge to tie to win the Long Go on the Franklin Bull Mickey Marshall with a great 88 point ride

Other bull riders to qualify for the six man short round included Steve and Jody Turner with scores of 84.5 and 82.5 respectively Tyler Pankewitz also made the short round with an 82 point ride.

In the short round Tyler Pankewitz was the second to ride and ended up being the only man to get a qualified score on the board with this ride below.

That payed him at least $4000 and moved him up from $18,000 in CPRA earning to over $22,000 and solidify his spot at this years CFR! Good luck at the finals Pank!

This weekend is one of the last chances for contestants to qualify for the Canadian Finals with three events taking place. The Canadian Rodeo Tour Finals in Armstrong, BC. The Merrit, BC Pro Rodeo along with the Okotoks Pro Rodeo.

On the PBR side of things the Glen Keely Memorial Bull Riding takes place Saturday night in Stavely, AB! Come out this weekend to see some great rodeo action. Which one are you looking forward to most this weekend?
