EDMONTON, AB – The Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (CIRA) Finals the Canadian National College Finals Rodeo (CNCFR) wrapped up last night at the Edmonton Expo Center of Northlands Park. After three nights of competition, these are the contestants who came out on top:
Bareback: Ky Marshall
Pole Bending: Courtney Pearson
Steer Wrestling: Brendan Laye
Saddle Bronc: Clinton Cox
Goat Tying: Leah Olstad
Barrel Racing: Lacey Stanton
Tie-Down Roping: Cody Braaten
Breakaway Roping: Brittany Schuk
Team Roping: Tyler Davis/Malorie Guenther
Bull Riding: Armando Davila Rodriguez
Along with these major events, the CIRA also named Holly Schuk Cowgirl of the Year and All Around Cowgirl.
Pete Lowry was named Cowboy of the Year, and Ky Marshall was crowned All Around Cowboy.
Northlands also held a competition between the member schools for selling tickets. This year, the University of Alberta received $2,294 to win. That means that Nicole Briggs, Bailey Smith, Leah Olstad, Charissa Babcock and the other U of A students sold 294 tickets! Congratulations!!
