Stock Talk with Ted Stovin – Airdire, AB CPRA August 25th, 2012

Airdrie, AB: The Second Annual Airdrie Oilmen’s Association Bikes & Bulls Charity Event takes place tomorrow and Saturday at the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds.

CPRA Bull Riding will get underway on Saturday evening at 7:30pm directly following that will be a concert by Gord Bamford!

Going over the match-ups for these events is starting to pick up pretty good. What are your picks after seeing the draw below? These are mine. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

Cody Moore vs. OB829 Smirk – As of the latest standings, Cody sits $9,000 outside of the top 12 in the CPRA Standings. If he wants to get himself to this year’s Canadian Finals Rodeo, he will need to probably win here and in Armstrong too next week at the tour finals. Cody started a couple of great rides last weekend but just missed the whistle. He will ride this bull of Dwayne Schellenburg’s and get himself back to the short go.

Cole Collins pulled a good check out of Camrose, AB in the spring on Smirk with an 85.5.

Garrett Green vs. OB851 Brahma Boots – This is a re-match from the long go of the Cochrane, AB bull riding in late July. Garrett split the long go there with Tyler Pankewitz. I bet he does the same this time around score wise but might not win the long go again with the other match ups that might get higher ones. Garrett has nearly got his first CFR in the bag so this ride could push him into the for sure category.

Garrett Green winning the Long Go in Cochrane on Brahma Boots with an 85.5 .

Ty Pozzobon vs. OB701 Cow Boss – I haven’t seen this bull much this year I don’t think but Ty won’t have a problem with him either way. Pozzobon is riding good as usual and probably the best in Canada on all levels right now. He’s currently third in the Canadian Standings. His eye in the next month will be go get into first to set himself up best to win his first Canadian Championship after a disappointing year last year.

Tyler Pankewitz won the AOA Bikes & Bulls last year on Cow Boss.

Kyle Lozier vs. SKRI77 Bill Cody – Kyle Lozier had $10,000 won at the end of May and it was looking like he was a shoe-in for the CFR for his first time. It might have messed his head a bit after the $20,000 win in Wanham too because his summer wasn’t what he wanted it to be. Luckily he’s only $7,000 out of a CFR spot and he could win $5,000 in Airdrie alone. Lethbridge is also on this weekend where a guy could win another $2,000. It would take some doing but Kyle can do it. Bill Cody is a good bull for the long round. Look for 81 to 83 points.

Matt Triplett was 81.5 on Bill Cody in Lashburn, SK on August 16th.

Tanner Byrne vs. F70 Jay Black – Tanner Byrne and Ty Pozzobon just got back from Disneyland celebrating Chad Besplug’s Calgary Stampede win. Tanner had a good weekend in Pincher Creek and Cranbrook last weekend to move himself closer to a second CFR. From what’s being said, he will need to make another $2,000 to get himself there. This bull could do it. Their other travelling partner Tyler Thomson rode him for an 82.5 in Cochrane on July 28th.
