Much Needed CFR Points Earned in Cochrane

Cochrane, AB: Tanner Byrne picked up a big win tonight in his pursuit of making the 40th Anniversary of the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton in November.

With the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) Bull Riding only events all having at least $10,000 added, it makes them bigger than 90 percent of all other rodeos. On this note, none of these Rodeos or Bull Ridings would ever happen it if weren’t for the great committees behind them. Jason Borton and the crew at the Cochrane Summerfest did a tremendous job once again to make this the 11th Annual Cochrane Classic Bull Riding successful once again.

Tonight, Byrne capitalized on this opportunity adding nearly $4,400 to his 2013 CPRA Regular Season Earnings, bringing his total to almost $13,000. As it stands today not including Medicine Hat or Bruce, it should move him into the top 12.

Tannner rode two Outlawbuckers’ Bull tonight. In the Short Go, he was the only man to ride. 85 was the result on Even Steven.

In the long go it was #704.

This is what he had to say after the event just before he hopped in a car to make the Cheyenne Frontier Days Final Round tomorrow afternoon.

As the last man out in the long go, 2012 CFR Qualifier Dakota Buttar rode the Franklin Bull, Bottoms Up, to the tune of 88.5 points. It may have been a re-ride but it worked out to pay him a bunch for second place overall after a buck-off in the short go.

Cole Collins has rather quietly made his way into the thick of things in this year’s Canadian Standings. With $7,785 won before tonight, Cole sat 20th. This extra $2,800 Will help out his cause too. For Collins last night it was an 87 on Franklin’s Super Too.

Coming in at fourth on the night was BC man, Kyle Lozier. Kyle has been awful close to the CFR a number of times and 2013 at this time of year, as far as I know, he’s sitting in better shape than any other previous year. The extra $1,800 should move him into the top twelve as of today leading into the 100th Bruce Stampede today and next weekend’s Strathmore Stampede. Last night it was an 86 on Outlawbuckers’ Joe Smoe in the long go.

Rounding out the tope five was Pennsylvania Bull Rider, Dustin Bowen, he nearly rode Franklin’s Snake Bite in the Short Go for what likely would have been a win.
