Lambert’s CFR Dreams Alive In Elnora

Elnora, AB: With a win at tonight’s 15th Annual Elnor Brahma Rama Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) Bull Riding, Zane Lambert has nearly clinched his first Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) Qualification.

With over $14,000 won coming into tonight, this win should likely move him up the standings far enough to nearly ensure his spot at the 40th Anniversary of the CFR. Depending on how things play out when the standings are updated, Zane could end up as high as fourth in Canada after tonight’s win. He’s still got to compete in Dawson Creek Sunday too.

Lambert won the long go on the Vold Bull by the name of Captain with an 85.5 point score for $1,413.20.

In the Short Go it was Sawyer’s Tree Shaker for 89 points. A bull that Zane hadn’t had the best of luck with before.

Coming in second in the Long Go and the Average was Jordan Hansen. In the Long Go it was 84.5 on Flying HIgh’s Hit Man.

Hansen tied for the Short Go win with his 89 point score on Calgary Stampede’s Bombs Away. A bull they have now won the Calgary Stampede $100,000 bonus on twice.

Jordan won about $4,000 on the night and currently is splitting the win in Dawson Creek that wraps up Sunday. If he were to stay where he is in Dawson it would pay him about $2,250. Adding both checks to his previous winnings up to this point which had him ranked in 22nd place, this weekend couple potentially move him into 9th place in the Canadian Standings.

In third on the evening was BC Native Cole Collins now living in Red Deer. With his winnings of over $1,700 in Elnora, he moves within striking distance in the final few weeks of the season. Cole scored 84.5 in the Short Go on Two Bit’s Blurred Lines.

Fourth in the average went to Cochrane’s Steven Turner. It’s a much needed win as he sat 17th going into the weekend. Some money here and a bit more in Dawson Creek helps his cause in a big way and put him right in the mix of the guys with a shot at the top 12. Tonight it was an 84 on the Tow Bit Bull Hands Free.

Rounding out the top five at the Elnora Brahma Rama was 2008 Canadian Champion Tyler Thomson. He rode the Wild Hoggs’ Back on Track for an 83.5 and was bucked off in the Short Go.
