Green Brothers Not Phased By Innisfail Mud

Innisfail, AB: Brothers Layton and Garrett Green are making names for themselves this year in the CPRA. Layton has been cross entering the Novice and Open Saddle Bronc riding while Garrett is not into his 3rd season of Canadian Pro Rodeo.

There was a good amount of mud in the arena last night and the wind blew pretty hard making it a little bit more chilly. That didn’t affect either Green Brother in the least.

Younger brother Layton is coming off a fresh win at last weekend’s Alberta High School Rodeo Finals in Ponoka, AB. Due to his busy summer schedule, he declined his invitation to the National High School Finals in Rock Springs, WY. It’s a decision he will not regret as there is a ton of money for him to win in those weeks here in Canada.

He’s still on his permit but has won more than enough to be in the Top 10 of the CPRA Saddle Bronc Standings. With over $3,700 won, he leads the Permit Award Standings by over $1,200.

At this point he’s also in the lead of the Canadian Novice Saddle Bronc Standings.

With rides like this one last night, you can see why. The horse he’s on here came from the Calgary Stampede’s “Born to Buck” Breeding Program.

Layton’s older brother Garrett currently sits in the 11th spot in the CPRA Bull Riding Standings. He’s one you’ll want to keep your eye on this year. Expect to see him this fall in Edmonton this fall as well.

With rides like this, he will punch his ticket sooner rather than later.

Tyler Thomson returned to competition last night and rode like he hadn’t missed a beat.

2011 Canadian Champion Chad Besplug made a solid ride on the Calgary Stampede bull One Spot to leave sitting in second place to finish up the night’s performance in Innisfail.
