Young and Hervey Lead Races After Night One in Cold Lake

COLD LAKE, Alberta – Bull Riders Canada Season Leader Brian Hervey lengthened his edge on second place Kyle Primeau in round one of the Inaugural BRC Finals.

Hervey scored 84 points on Feel the Fear of Rafter N Bucking Bulls from Cody Johnson to finish second on the night. First place on the night went to Cole Young of Grande Prairie, AB who was half a point better on Alberta Premium of the Outlawbuckers Rodeo Company.

“I did what I needed to do. It worked out good for me tonight, I was happy with it.” Young said of riding the bull. “I wasn’t even thinking about bull riding. I just came here and I got on.”

Primeau held his own scoring an eighth best 78, keeping pace and the title within his reach.

The two, Hervey and Primeau, came to the finals separated by a difference of 45 points, thus leaving the championship to be decided Saturday Evening at the conclusion of the event.

Rounding out the top five in round one were Billy West who checked in at 83.5 on Thompson Rodeo’s Fortune 500, Shay Marks with his 81 and Miles Pennington at 80.

Saturday Night features another full round of competition with the top eight in the aggregate moving on to the Championship Round to finish off the night.

Wreck of the night went to gate man and bull riding director Kyle German with this doozy.

Bull riding action at the Cold Lake Exhibition Park begins at 7:00pm with Hey Romeo taking the stage after the bull riding at 9:00pm.
