KIMBERLEY, British Columbia — Going into stop number nine of the 2014 Bull Riders Canada Inc. season, both Cody Moore and Ken Siemens had one event win and sat in the top five on the year. With a split of the win last night, Moore and Siemens sit first and second leaving the Kimberley Dynamiters Bull-A-Rama.
Last night in Kimberley, Moore and Siemens tied for the event win with their 82.5 point rides in the long go as there were no scores recorded in the short go of competition. Both rode bulls from Kelly Armstrong, Nitro Express being tamed by Siemens and Forcible Entry ridden by Moore.
In addition to leading the 2014 BRC Standings, Cody Moore has become the first man to cross the $10,000 mark in season earnings. In comparison, in all of the 2013 season including the finals only two men crossed that threshold. This is one factor that shows the magnitude of the growth of Bull Riders Canada one-third of the way into it’s second season.
Fighting Irish from the Coyote Creek Rodeo Co helped Jaco Stahl to a third best 79 point score worth $1,330 in Kimberley. Speaking of Irish, Ireland’s Bull Rider, Ian Molan moved himself further up the standings with a second check this weekend. Molan now has $1,331 on the year to sit fifth with 660 points on the season.
It’s interesting to note that nine events into the season that none of the top five in the BRC Standings are from Alberta. Two reign from BC, two come from Saskatchewan and Ireland holds down fifth spot. Three Albertans sit between sixth and tenth with the final two spots held by Australia.
It’ll be interesting to see how many nations, provinces and states end up at this year’s BRC Finals.
