Share Your Story

Everyone has a story and storytelling is one of the greatest of the Cowboy ways. I want this site to be a welcome place, a Cowboy Gathering place for everyone not just Cowboys and Cowgirls I mean everyone and a place where people can meet and connect.

A friend suggested that I make a place where people could share their story so I created this page. I think this is the best way to go about it. If you want to leave your story, go ahead and leave a comment below. Tell us where your from, what you do, some of your interests, whatever you want to. Tell us your story. Mine is on the about page but I didn’t leave a link to any videos yet so I will now. Below are some videos from the competition part of my rodeo career!

Is that an English man?, Yes it is !

I came to Canada 4 years ago having never seen or heard about rodeos, I saw my first rodeo after being here a year in High River, it blew my mind, it was crazy to see these events for the first time in real life, after the bull riding I thought was that it was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, I went again the next day and after the bull riding decided that it was something I wanted to try.

I only wanted to try it once, just to say I tried it, I first rode a few cows at nanton Nites and then some bulls later and that was it, I set the goal of becoming a pro-bull rider, I’ve got over 10 years gymnastic and martial arts training behind me, I thought this should be no problem, I was wrong, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, I’m still not at pro level yet, but I will be, I’ve got a lot of bull rider friends behind me, pushing me forward and encouraging me.

The first year I came here, I went to the Calgary Stampede, this year I got a chance to ride at the Stampede, it was only an exhibition ride, but the feeling of nodding your head in those chutes is pretty awesome, maybe one day I’ll be nodding my head in them again….. we shall see.

Thanks to everybody in the rodeo community who has helped me along the way, it’s been pretty intimidating coming into the sport as an outsider, but I’ve been made to feel like I’m part of the family.

    GREAT site Ted!!

My Story: I’m a Rodeo Clown from around Edmonton, I grew up around rodeo and chuckwagon racing and always wanted to be a Rodeo Clown. I have been clowning around for 18 years, I have started full time again last year after a 5 years of racing chuckwagons. I love entertaining people and put big smiles on children and adults a like. This year I`m helping to spread the word about anti-bullying, something that effects numerous youth in our schools, communities and organizations. I beleive cowboys and cowgirls are great role models, they face unbelievable challanges everytime the step in to an arena. Many children admire cowboys and cowgirls and if I can help them in anyway to become apart of rodeo I will. To check out more on me go to facebook and look up Zak YoYo rodeo clown under groups or @Zak_YoYo on twitter.

I am a 15 year old countrygirl that would like to start bullriding. Only problem is no one, especiallly my family, want me to ride bulls. I love it and my mom doesn’t want me getting hurt. I could get hurt riding horses, I understand that the risk is greater but if I have the will to do it then why not?

  9. Laramie says:

My story: I am 18 years old and have been involved in rodeo my whole life. I barrel race pole bend and for the last 5 years I have also been picking up at practices and rodeos. My family raises bucking horses and my dad has done quite well in the blood lines we have taken horses to the NFR Sale in LasVegas and won top seller three times and won the World Futurity Bronc riding also at the NFR Sale. I have decided recently due to the lack of a good competitive horse that I am going to take a couple years away from rodeoing myself and just help dad with our bucking horses while i work on my colt. I have been friends with Ted for quite some time now and can recall back when he first started this site Ted I just have to say from seeing it when it was bran new to what it has become now I am very impressed with your hard work and dedication to it. You can follow me on my new facebook account if your not already. Hope to see you down the road again soon.
